Aiming for Mediocrity

Writing to Write

“Mediocrity will never do. You are capable of something better.”
― Gordon B. Hinckley

Am I A Great Writer?

No.  Am I a good writer though?  Also no.

However, as I continue to ‘grow up,’ writing has hovered near the top of my list of skills to hone and develop.   Recently I purchased “712 More Things to Write About” by the San Francisco Writers’ Grotto, a book of, you guessed it, 712 writing prompts.  However, it has sat on my coffee table since its arrived (apologies to my wife).   Enter; a blog.

I have no desire nor ability to write philosophical musings, enlightening poetry, or political tirades.  If you’d like that, check out twitter.  This blog will serve one purpose; a public means of accountability.

My goal is to post three blog posts a week.   Each of the three posts will be a response to a unique writing prompt from the aforementioned book.  If you see that a week has gone by and I haven’t posted three posts (at least), please use any means of social media to berate me (or check in nicely if you’re not into that whole, berating thing).  If you have my phone number please feel free to text me.

If you don’t know me and you’re just stumbled upon this website, welcome!  I hope it can serve as a means of entertainment for you.

Anyway, I’ll be spending the weekend (May 20/21, 2017) setting up the blog, and my first week of writing will be the week of May 22, 2017.   Until then, keep on aiming for mediocrity.
